If you have been injured in an accident and have to miss work it can be very expensive. The reduction or loss of salary in addition to any costs of the accident can mount up and you can easily get in to financial difficulties. Unless you have income protection insurance, this can leave you struggling to pay your bills each month.
It can be tempting to go back to work as soon as possible. This could not be wise though, It may slow down your recovery, because of the stress or it could even cause a relapse. It is important to make sure that you are fully recovered and that you doctor has told you that you are well enough to return.
However, if the accident that you had, was not your own fault, then you could claim compensation. This could make a big difference, because you can claim any costs that have occurred as a result of the accident as well as actual compensation for the injury.
Knowing that you could get this money may help you to relax a little bit about your finances. May allow you to take the necessary time off work and then return when you are well enough. Obviously, there is a risk that you may not win compensation even if you try to make a claim, but if you talk to a solicitor, they should be able to let you know what chance you have of winning the case. This will all depend on the amount of evidence you have to prove what caused your injuries and whether that was your fault or not.
However, just knowing that you could get some financial help will hopefully make you feel confident enough to take the time off work you need and ensure that you make a full recovery.
