Nerves When Visiting My New Dentist

A lot of people say that they are scared of the dentist, and feel extremely nervous whenever they have to make a trip to the dentist. Be it dental implants or fillings, the dentist fills people with dread. I have always felt myself to be lucky as when I was growing up I never felt that way, in fact I remember my brother and I would often feel quite excited when I trip to the dentist was due. My first experience of dentist nerves came as an adult, having moved house I now had to visit a different dentist for the first time. I was extremely nervous as I travelled to my appointment, worried that my new dentist would be like the nightmares some of my acquaintances have described in the past. When I got there and was shown to the Waiting Room my nerves started to calm, they had a fish tank in the corner. Watching the fish move slowly through the water had a calming effect and stopped my mind from thinking about my nerves. When I saw the dentist I was pleased to find out she was very friendly. The dental examination went smoothly and painlessly, meaning that my fears had been unnecessary. I’m now just as calm and relaxed about my trips to the dentist as I ever was.
