Window valances are lovely accents you can add to your windows to enhance the way it looks. These can be hung alone or in combination with long flowing curtains. Valances that are used to top off windows with long curtains create a posh layered look. This treatment if used alone doesn’t offer much covering for your window. How To Choose Efficient Electric Space Heaters

posted on 14 February 2011

Space heaters are very convenient and effective in providing heat for your home. However, you shouldn’t be swayed by that sleek looking heater that seems to complement the interiors of your home. Price and brand should also be one of your least concerns. Using your wise buying instincts you should look beyond the external design and dig deeper into the functions that appliance offers. In choosing efficient electric space heaters you should put more focus on how much heat this appliance can provide within a given space. If you have large rooms in your home, a nice looking heater but puny in size and heating capacity will just not give you the amount of heat that you need. Since these types of heaters consume a lot of electricity you should buy one that is energy efficient. The most efficient heaters consume the least electricity but can provide you ample heating. If size does matter to you then choose a unit that has all these functions but in a size that suits your preference.

Electrical wiring – A definitive Guide

posted on 9 February 2011

Electrical wiring is a system used to distribute power in a building or any establishment. Wiring a residential building requires low power compared to the large building structure. Residential wiring is easier and does not need constant changes of wiring layout. Wiring requirement for a commercial establishment demands a lot of wiring changes for the possible installation of large equipments. Highly industrialized building demands larger electrical wiring requirements because it usually operates in a very high voltage. A possible constant change in wiring layout is expected because of new large equipment needed for the operation. Wires or cables are being rated according to its circuit voltage, temperature rating and environmental condition. The electrician uses wires that are usually higher in capacity than the load it is supposed to distribute to avoid electrical short circuit. Electricians will use wire and cable that is suitable with the environment and temperature. When wiring outside of the building, the electrician will use wires that can stand either the heat of the sun or rain.

Transforming a Weed Patch Into A Garden Made Easy With Black Plastic Sheeting

posted on 7 December 2010

Next to our home we have a fairly large area of grass and weeds. One time I noticed that the soil in this area was very dark, in fact it was almost black. Any gardener can tell you that this is a sign of very fertile soil, which probably explains why there are so many weeds and wild shrubs growing here. This area had never been subject to construction work either - not so much as a gazebo had rested on this land. In fact, about fifteen years ago there were trees here that have been since cut down due to damage they caused to our garage during storms. In the time since, the stumps have mostly decomposed into the soil. Given that there are no trees, this spot receives almost constant sun. Therefore, I thought it would be ideal for planting a vegetable garden. One recommendation I have for anyone who wishes to till their weed-covered land for use as a garden is to rent or purchase a roto-tiller. This makes the back-breaking task of digging up the weeds so much easier. In this spot of land, there was a solid cover of a particularly stubborn type of crabgrass. It was so tough, it was like trying to rip up a carpet with a shovel. Needless to say, I spent the better half of one day digging up the crabgrass and other weeds. What I then had was a 12' x 12' patch of dark, rich soil. Before planting, I spread home-made compost all over the area and mixed it into the soil with a pitchfork and a shovel (again, another instance where a roto-tiller would have come in handy!). I divided the area into smaller plots with scraps of lumber and assigned seeds to each plot - tomatoes, potatoes, cucumbers, squash, radishes, and cilantro. Within two weeks I had my first seedlings of radishes and potatoes. But what I also had were new weeds growing. Slowly at first, so I could easily pick them out. However, as time went on, the weeds seemed to be spreading faster than I could pick them out and growing faster than the seeds I had planted. About two months into the growing season, we had a heat wave that lasted for about four days with temperatures in the 100s. During this time, I neglected to pick the weeds out of my garden and they had overtaken the developing vegetable plants I had planted. In the end, the only seeds that were successful in yielding vegetables were a few radishes and a few squash. The heatwave I have mentioned basically fried my potato plants (which are not adapted for heat) and the small potatoes that had been developing were green and bitter. The tomatoes yielded a few small fruits but these were also bitter. In the end, I had to mow the entire patch because it was now becoming out of control and an eyesore on my property. My struggle to grow a vegetable garden shows the importance of using black plastic sheeting when planting seeds. I had seen my neighbors use this material which is available at most hardware or home-improvement stores. However, I was trying to save money and decided I would rather weed my garden every day (although I am not that disciplined). But what I did not realize is that, in addition to preventing weeds from growing, this black plastic sheeting also maintains moisture in the soil. Had I used it, perhaps my soil would have stayed moist longer and my potato plants may not have wilted in the heat.

Princess Beguile is the new character in the drama story of the royal family. She is the first granddaughter of King Alfie the first. Actually, the king had another granddaughter who came ahead of Princess Beguile but she was not in the official family. She was only an illegitimate daughter of Prince Dante. Anyway, Princess Beguile is an honest girl and never knew how to cheat. She is bubbly and would at times crack jokes. She could command attention and even her grandfather and grandmother the king and the queen would pay attention when she talk. She knew what is cctv package deals and doesn&rsquot disappoint anyone who would just listen to her. You would really have fun listening to her stories. When she tell stories it is accompanied with actions, facial expressions and sometimes she would stand up to really act out the story. She is sensible and has weakness also. But the person who played this role is somewhat mild and adaptable. Her name is Ambrosia. Ambrosia is always real outside the play. She is also bubbly but you would know something is happening just by seeing her facial expression.

Princess Delfa, the First Princess of the Royal Family

posted on 9 November 2010

As was mention in the last article, Princess Delfa is bigger and taller than the rest of the princes and princesses. But she can always recall her wonderful experiences with her father the king, when she was still a little girl. King Alfie I is the one who will bring her to school just outside the kingdom. And the king will fetch her in the afternoon. The king will bring and fetch for her especially when the weather is not good. And one day the king had to carry Princess Delfa at his back because the highway is flooding outside the wall. She was so proud that she has a father who carried her while the rest of the school kids are forced to walk through the flood by their own. But King Alfie is bringing with him the wireless cctv kits. It was so precious in those days. Anyways, when Princess Delfa came to her age of womanhood, she got a lot of men from other kingdoms who were trying to woo her. There was a prince, a royal captain, a wealthy peasant but the one who won her heart was an ordinary guy who has been a priest&rsquos assistant working day and night in the temple court.

Just Glad to be Back Home Again

Oh, it feels great to be finally home! As a matter of fact, I have never felt this good in such a long time. Being an overseas worker is no joke. I have been working as a nursing aide in Dubai and this is the very first time I am able to come home since the day I left the country almost six years ago. Yes, it has been a long time indeed. As I was looking out the window car, I can very well see how things are so different now since the last time I laid my eyes on this place. Buildings have multiplied and have become taller. Roads have become wider and I can see that the government spent quite an amount of money for the Mastic Asphalt used even on sidewalks. Malls are undeniably many and so much bigger, too - almost like the ones I see in New York. But thankfully, the people are just as warm. I can see how they have embraced the changes around them. I wonder now, how this country would be like another six years from now.

A Bit About Me Starting a New Life

posted on 29 August 2010

After an immature but joyful life of more than 20 years, when the time came to hold hands of a new person who is going to share all my happiness and sorrows till the end of life, I had several questions in my mind that day morning, I got up at 3.00 AM and was thinking of answers for many questions. How is my life going to be henceforth? How will I live without my parents? How am I going to fit to his family? And many such… However, on the other side, I was happy about the special day of my life, thinking about starting to bear all responsibilities on our own head without dependencies. When the wedding was over, I saw my dad crying for the first time, at least to my knowledge. However, my husband was very happy and promised my dad that he would take care of me like a princess! And it's all in the details - the future unfolds day by day. From the day we received our wedding gifts - from cushion covers to the toaster - you see that happiness is in the everyday living.

Get Wrapping!

posted on 21 August 2010

Let’s be honest, packing is not the most engaging or exciting of activities, so discipline yourself to get on with it and not get distracted by TV, going online or picking your toenails with a rusty, blunt implement. When preparing for a move, getting your possessions packed properly is vital to save you time, money and stress. The simple rule is put the heaviest items into the smallest boxes and use bigger packing for lighter items. Use newspaper, foam or bubble wrap to keep the more fragile items, such as glasses and cups, from damage. Be careful to ensure that smaller items don't get lost in your chosen packing materials, as they might get overlooked at your new home and accidentally thrown away. Make use of various popular brands of sticky plastic tape to show the shape of the wrapped item and avoid it being mistaken for a spare bunch of paper. Make sure wrapped glass and china-ware don't end up lose and clattering in a storage box by putting plenty of paper in to pad all sides of the box. Where possible remove staples from boxes to protect floors, tops and work surfaces where boxes are stored to await collection and after arrival at the your new home. Avoid interlocking box flaps together. To reinforce strength ensure tops and bottoms with a minimum of three strips of tape, placed halfway along the sides of a box. Extra tapes not only boosts strength, but will keep a box firmly closed until it has to be emptied when a simple blade will be needed to cut through the tape. Mark the top and sides of all boxes on the tape with contents and destination location (such as bedroom, kitchen, or basement). This will make identifying where things are easy when they are stacked on top of each other. If the box is reused, then using fresh tape over marked taped easily eliminates old markings. Don’t leave the rest of your packing until the last possible moment. Get ahead of the game by packing anything you donít use on a regular basis first. If an item furniture needs to be taken apart then get than done in advance and pack up the parts straight away. Don't allow them to lie around, get misplaced or carried off the dog. Lost parts can be hard, if not impossible to replace. Be especially careful with documents and personal papers. Don’t pack away anything you might actually need on a day to day basis, such as cheque books, passports, driving licences, travel tickets, visas or birth certificates, etc. Any likely problems should be documented before the move. Your chosen removal company needs to be told in advance of any issue which could affect the move like access issues, broken or weak staircases, damaged or fragile furniture. The removal firm needs to know if your residence is above the first floor and if you require extra boxes, clothing storage, or any last minute packing, etc.
